‘Magherini takes multiple frames of the same location, and layers them to create unique images that distort the subjects within the picture, and create a sense of movement. Much like Hockney and Picasso, the pieces seek to capture the dynamic nature of the world and how it is never static. Even though the image depicts a building made of stone, a frantic energy is ever present.’

‘Susan Sontag said that “a photograph is a slice of space and time.” Magherini with his works brokes through this definition through his nearly ten years of exploration.’

‘Riccardo Magherini’s reality is fascinating in its intentional lack of clarity. He layers perspective and moments in time, as if seeing through an insect’s compound eyes, or those of an alien with extra-dimensional perception. It’s what we’d normally see, only…deeper. Like if those fabled, unused parts of our brain were suddenly switched on. A new way of seeing.’

‘Merging moments and places, Riccardo allows us to make our own vision, a very personal point of view.
Details and nuances come to the surface joining the plot, enriching it, generating unexpected connections.’

‘Riccardo Magherini’s unique take on street photography stands apart from the popular high contrast black and white or vivid color looks that seem to be in style right now.’

‘Magherini sees the world as “a sum of instants,” moments and impressions that overlap each other and merge into feelings and memories.’

‘Using overlapping image layers, Riccardo Magherini documents the people’s life in an artistic way.’

We and the color
